To manage change properly and to minimize resistance to change, organizations need to create a culture where innovation is valued. If employees are repeatedly informed about organizational strategy regarding change and innovation, they become more willing to embrace change. However if people in a firm are unaware of company's policy regarding change and if there prevails a culture that teaches rigidity and conventionality then resistance becomes almost inevitable. In our organization we promote and constantly build a culture that leans towards change and innovation. The top management encourages innovation however over the years, we have seen that to minimize resistance, we need to learn some important things about nature of change and method of its implementation.
Employees must first be prepared for change and the potential benefits of change should be communicated clearly. Secondly it is also very important to create attraction for change. For example if new technology is being introduced, employees should be taught the possible short and long term benefits of this technology.
